FAQs about Sourcing and Procurement Service

1. Are you specialized in sourcing certain products, certain commodities, or specialized industries?

We serve clients to source for a variety of Consumer Products, such as fashion and sports wear, electronics, medical instruments, office supplies, kitchenware, furniture, and outdoor products.

  • We help you customize products based on your design,

  • We help you source for existing products in the market, with a private labeling solution available if the order quantity is sufficient for the factory to add your logo to the product.

2. Where are you located?

Our headquarter is in Hong Kong, with operation teams in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Hangzhou, and Beijing.

3. How do you qualify the factory to make sure their product is of good quality?

We have an internal procedure to check for the factory’s reliability and product quality:

  • Background check through the paid database in China to verify the factory’s legal status;

  • Factory’s years of operation;

  • Clients review and satisfaction;

  • Factory status on Alibaba, 1688, and other e-platforms in China.

4. How to make sure that the factory can produce and deliver the product on time?

  • We will have a mutual timeline agreement between the buyer and the factory so that the production will be on time.

  • Usually, the payment for bulk orders is 50% on order, and 50% before lifting cargo for cargo value over US$ 15,000;

  • Usually, when the client agrees, we can use our China trading company to sign a contract with the factory/supplier during the production phase to provide our oversea client’s a layer of protection.

5. Can we talk to the factory directly?

Yes.

Upon engaging us as the Dedicated Account Manager, we will facilitate your communication with the factory, and convey the design ideas, product specification requirements, package standards, etc.

In addition, we can also act as your translator and assistant in a group chat on Wechat to liaise between you and the factory.

6. Are you going to follow up with our communication with the factory?

Once we are engaged to provide the service, we will provide you with a Dedicated Account Manager to assist you throughout the life cycle of the production. i.e. sourcing, negotiation with the factory, inspection, logistics, etc.

7. Do you perform the quality inspection or you will hire a third party to do the inspection when the product is done?

We provide in-house basic Visual Inspection based on your checking and inspection criteria provided before we visit the factory.

Any specific requirement for on-site specialized technical inspection, then it will be outsourced to a third-party laboratory or engineer.

8. Why do you charge an upfront fee for sourcing? Isn't it free, with a percentage shared upon successful transactions?

We charge an upfront fee for sourcing requests. Our daily influx of requests is substantial, often involving clients seeking sourcing for multiple products.

Sourcing entails a significant investment of expertise, time, and resources.

For instance, upon receiving your request, we may dispatch a team member to visit factories or utilize paid databases for inquiries. Completing a single sourcing request can take over days.

To ensure top-notch service, we have introduced an upfront service fee. This approach allows us to prioritize genuine and capable clients who demonstrate preparedness and a clear understanding of their business needs. By doing so, we can offer dedicated assistance to those committed to their sourcing requirements, rather than individuals making random inquiries.

Moreover, the sourcing service fee aligns with our commitment to diligently and efficiently locate the best products for our clients. It reflects our dedication to delivering a comprehensive and customized sourcing experience, ensuring we allocate the necessary resources and expertise to fulfill our clients' specific needs.

9. How do you charge for your service? Is it a one-time flat fee or is a percentage based on our order value?

We charge a one-time flat fee for service based on sourcing requirements and service criteria.

10. Do you accept a discount or referral fees from the factory?

No, we do not receive rebates or commissions from the Factory, as we are not distributing agent for any factory.

11. Who is responsible for product returns, Koh‘s Development or the manufacturer?

If you put an order with our company, then we will be responsible for product return if there is a defect of goods based on our Sales and Purchase Agreement.

If you put an order directly with the factory, i.e. you make payment directly to the factory, then the factory will be responsible for the product return.

12. Can we have photos and videos during the production phase?

During the production phase, we can check with the factory for photos and videos, if the factory feels free to share them.

When we are engaged for product inspection after production, we can help you take videos and photos of the product based on inspection criteria.

13. Since I can source products independently via platforms like Alibaba and AliExpress, how does employing your sourcing service offer additional benefits or advantages?

Our sourcing service at Koh's Development offers a much more personalized and comprehensive service.

We help you find suppliers and manufacturers and cover the whole production cycle, from raw material sourcing to final package solutions.

We assist in budget optimization, ensuring you know what to expect from every step of the manufacturing process without any "expense surprises" or "production delays" due to insufficient communication and coordination.

In addition, we provide a detailed sourcing report covering information from multiple factories such as MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity), MOQ Price, MOQ Lead Time, Sample Price, and Sample Lead Time. Our service is particularly advantageous if you have a customized product with different components requiring different suppliers.

Besides, we act as your counterparty in the deal, offering a one-stop solution so you don't have to deal with multiple parties. We can liaise with the process with manufacturers directly if you engage us for the "Dedicated Sourcing Agent" Service.

Please visit our website for more details about our sourcing service.

14. Can you block the Chinese logistics for my customers (so the product does not look like it is from China)?

We understand the importance of your brand image and can certainly facilitate sending products without the "Made in China" labels for tax and customs considerations.

However, to label the products as "Made in XXX" (any country other than China), you would need to import and re-label them on your end.
